Founder - Dr Robin Choudhury

Dr Robin ChoudhuryRobin Choudhury qualified in medicine at the University of Oxford (B.A. 1989, BM 1992, DM 2002) with postgraduate training in London (Royal Brompton, National Heart Hospital & Hammersmith). In 1999 he moved to Mount Sinai School of Medicine, New York, working on the biology of vascular disease and developing MRI to phenotype atherosclerosis. He returned to Oxford in 2001 and is currently a Wellcome Trust Senior Research Fellow in Clinical Science at the University of Oxford; Consultant Cardiologist at the John Radcliffe Hospital and Clinical Director of the Oxford Acute Vascular Imaging Centre.

His research interests focus on the development and application of imaging techniques for the characterization of atherosclerosis, thrombosis and vascular inflammation and in particular on the development of molecular imaging approaches. He is President of the Royal Society of Medicine Section on Lipids, Metabolism and Vascular Risk and serves on the Council of The Society of Atherosclerosis Imaging and Prevention and on the Editorial Board of the American Heart Association Journal, ATVB. His research is supported by the Wellcome Trust, the British Heart Foundation and the National Institute for Health Research, Oxford Comprehensive Biomedical Research Centre. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology. He has received numerous honors including the Wellcome Trust Prize International Fellowship (1999); an American Heart Association New Investigator Award (2001), the annual Herbert Kayden Lecture (New York University, 2008) and the Michael Davis Award of the British Cardiovascular Society (2008).
